Why Offer Certificates in these areas?

The Project Management and Business Analysis roles have become cornerstone positions in the elusive pursuit for IT / Business alignment. The Project Manager position is the glue that holds the project together, and owns the financial and scheduling aspects of project delivery. The Business Analyst is the definer of “need,” ensures that “need” is of value, and then engineers that “need” into requirements and models that can be translated by IT. One-position delivers, the other position ensures what is delivered is needed.

Agile Development has become a legitimate process SDLC professionals are turning to as a means to increase the quality and relevance of what they deliver. Agile impacts all positions working on a project. It focuses on people and communication over process and tools. When done correctly the efficiency and quality gains are exceptional.

The Executive Certificate programs in Project Management (NEW), Business Analysis, and Agile Development were built to ensure the person achieving a certificate has acquired real-world skills, techniques, tools, and knowledge through attendance and active participation in five real-world hands-on courses. ASPE and Saint Louis University wanted to provide the industry with an educational tool that ensures an employee with a certificate can perform in real environments, instill best practices, and deliver results.

Certificate Program Details
  • All three programs are made up of five courses each
  • The number of course days vary between 10 and 12 days depending on the track you take
  • Each track has a required curriculum and an elective curriculum
  • There are no course work prerequisites for entering a certificate track, but you must have experience as a Software/Systems Development Professional
  • A student can take their courses as either live on-line delivery (Live Instructor Led Training Over the Internet) or as physical classroom delivery
  • A student has up to three years from the start of their first class to complete the entire track
  • Each track includes certification boot camp electives, so there is a possibility of achieving both your Executive Certificate and an industry recognized certification from (IIBA, PMI or Scrum Alliance)
  • You will receive a certificate of completion from Saint Louis University, and you may include on your resume that you received an Accredited Certificate from the John Cook School of Business at Saint Louis University
